Mine are certainly not the best but they are improving with practice. I can actually already do a handstand - not for very long - but Pilates makes you strong!
I have never done burpees. They sound like a good workout. @sushiritto – totally agree you’ve got to mix up the workout to challenge your body and make it interesting.
Did 7 miles this morning. For a while kept pace with two men, one of whom was wearing those shoes that look like toe socks with a rubberized sole. I was going to ask how he liked them but I knew I couldn’t run and talk. They don’t seem to have much cushioning but he was moving along just fine.
I’d be happy to do stairs without holding the rail! My health continues to be problematic, spent the night in the ER last week, and now my BP is up for no clear reason. We still can’t get my anticoagulation meds straightened out. It is fluctuating wildly. More tests…
Have been getting more steps this week, but I am just feeling so decrepit.
@sabaray Well, if you’re doing handstands, burpees and step-ups, then combined with your strong running ability, your essentially doing CF-like skills/exercises. Obviously, handstands would put you into a more advanced group.
Again, there are progressions to exercises like burpees, push-ups, pull-ups, etc. No one starts in an elite class. Here’s a 2-year old story (90 second video) on an 80-year old woman who does CF:
@Classof2015 Burpees are a great exercise, but for someone who’s healthy. If “you” have a bad back, hips, ankles, etc., then a burpee probably isn’t for “you.” But a burpee is a squat, a jump to a plank position, a push-up,and then a squat jump, etc. all rolled into one exercise. So, it’s a great combination movement and will help your running.
Sometimes, depending on where I can stop, after each mile, I’ll drop and do 10-20-30 burpees.
^^Actually, it makes me feel down and discouraged because my body is failing me repeatedly these days. It’s that cascading effect we talk about on the caring for parents thread. Sheer hell when the cascading kicks in when you’re only 56. And it’s doing my weight no good, either.
CD, I wish I could come over and help you. Are you still working? I hope they get the meds figured out - I wish you had a personal case manager to get all this worked out.
That’s a good video - I like her attitude. I’m not ready to die yet either!
Did 9.6 miles then jumped in the ocean to cool off. Not a good running week, mileage wise, but I have high hopes (famous last words) for this week. A late night business outing really tired me out. It was on a boat so I couldn’t really leave early
Good run! I’m still struggling to get oxygen here in Crested Butte at 8900 feet. Gorgeous running and scenery and 39 degrees to start, but the altitude… 8.2 miles today with some walking breaks. Lots of walking breaks.
Saw this today. No excuses for that disgusting comment. Excellent response from Ms. Lukin:
“But the truth is, such statements do not decrease the incidence of rape or make women more “safe”. These statements only provide rapists what they’re looking for: an excuse for violence. And while this man may believe his comments qualify as a lesson in how to behave, it only propagates an ignorant, dangerous agenda and further justifies this hateful and disturbing behavior.”
