Difference between 99th percentile scores

As someone who has taken the ACT three times, my highest composite score is a 33 (finally in the top percentile; E 31, M 30, R 36, S 35, W ?), but my superscore is a 34 (31,32,36,36). After this new test came back, it put me back in my old position where I have a decent score, but my superscore is a point above it. However, now that both are in the top, will an improvement of a point or two even matter to an admissions board? I’m involved in a great deal of ECs and I would consider them decently varied, so I’m hoping that an improvement wouldn’t matter all too much. The school’s I’m looking at request all of my testing scores to review, but I have this notion that if my math hadn’t gone down two points (and my highest composite would be a 34) then I would actually get in to some more exclusive schools.

Maybe some places it will, but when you go on to talk about “exclusive schools”, your scores serve to generally qualify you while your selection is based more on less quantifiable factors.

@JustOneDad Thank you for easing my mind lol

Check if the school even superscore for ACT. Most don’t.

Colleges want all of your scores so if admitted, they can report your scores on their Common Data Set in the best possible light, which helps them in rankings, etc. If they like the rest of your resume they are not looking for a reason to reject you, they are looking to accept you but still help themselves in the game they have to play with ranking, etc.

ACT leaves it up to the individual schools to set their own policy, but in their own research they do not “superscore” and suggests that it may overinflate a student’s abilities.

Your sub scores include two that are 94/95 percentile (not 99). So what do you want to study and where can help answer your question

@ClarinetDad16 I was only talking about my composites, hoping those would be what mattered. My previous superscore (the school’s I’m looking at seriously don’t, but my safety does) was a 33 (99%) and now my superscore is 34 (higher 99%). I was hoping to study Molecular Biology or Biochemistry at a good school (like top twenty). Princeton looks like an excellent school for those majors, but saying it sounds ridiculous to me.

@ClarinetDad16 : Hmmm. Didn’t know to do that (look for percentile rankings of these tests). Wow, what that tells me is all good!
