Difference between North and South Campus for Housing?

What is the difference between North and South Campuses housing-wise?

I have experience living in both but to be honest, I don’t notice much of a difference. Maybe south campus peeps are a little fuzzier?

South campus is much closer to downtown Evanston and quieter than North campus. North campus is where most of the frat houses and parties are.

It depends on a lot of factors. Firstly, most math/science oriented classes are located on north campus, while most liberal artsy classes are located on south campus. So if you know one of those will be a focus for you, it can’t hurt to reduce your transit time, especially when it’s really cold out–winter quarter can be a bear.

It’s also true that north campus tends to be more active at night due to the frats being located there, along with certain “party” dorms. South campus is quieter and slower.

Personally, I live on south campus and I have almost all of my classes down here. That said, some of my suitemates have most of their classes up north and they’re able to make the trek (buying a bike helps). I also really like that I can go north to party if I feel like it but I can always come back south to a dorm where it’s quiet enough to get to sleep (eventually…:P).

Hope that helps.
