Difference between Stats Courses

Could somebody tell me the difference between Stats 1211 and SIEO 3600?
I have no stats background, so should i take STATS 1211 before SIEO 3600 or could I just go straight to SIEO 3600?

Statistics W1211 is statistics for mathematically disinclined economics students who want an easy A with minimal work. The class is curved to a B+/A- and 10% of the class receives an A+. You don’t learn as much as you would in SIEO 3600. The breadth is there but there is little to no depth in how much of the material you learn.

SIEO 3600 (SIEO stands for Statistics, Industrial Engineering and Operations Research) is the statistics course for the IEOR and CS department. Quite a bit more challenging in terms of what is taught and how the material is tested. Expect more brainteaser type questions instead of W1211, which is essentially all computation. The class is B/B+, i.e. only 30% of the students receive A-/A/A+ and only 2-3 students out of 100 will get an A+.

Both classes require no statistics background. If you wan to take it easy, not learn too much, but not be stressed out go with W1211. You won’t be disappointed or really challenged.
