Some AP tests give no credit, others give 1 c.u., and a couple give waivers.
Does anybody know the difference between getting a credit unit and getting a waiver?

Is it that a c.u. allows you to skip the class so that you have one less class to graduate (i.e. 35 classes reduced from 36), while a waiver lets you skip the class but still requires you to take the same amount of classes for your degree (still 36 classes where you make up the “skipped class” with another course of your interest)?

Yes. A waiver waives the class for you but you still have to take another in place of that one (something of your chosing) while a C.U. milks down your grad. requirements

I noticed that many classes awared English Freshman Free 1 c.u.
(AP Lang, AP Lit, IB English). Is it beneficial to get English Freshman
Free credit for all three of those courses, or do they imply the same course?

It’s one credit per semester I believe. What is Penn’s policy regarding AP Lit and AP Eng?
If I have 5’s in both, do I not take freshman english (with 2 C.U.), or do I merely have one C.U.? I don’t want to waste 80 bucks.
