Differences in what one includes with resume when applying for jobs in various regions and industries

When I interviewed for a position at a major benefits consulting firm, I was asked for my SAT scores. It was a communications position, and I got a perfect score on their editing screening, but they were very impressed by my math score (which in CC land was nothing to write home about). Apparently it was competitive with their actuarial analyst candidates.

As it turned out, I did a lot of communications AND a lot of actuarial-adjacent work. It worked out just fine. Had we stayed in Philadelphia, I would have been there for the rest of my career. Loved the people and the place.
