Different amount of PELL grant for second semester?

Hi. For the Fall semester, I got around $2.3k in PELL grant. But for my estimated Spring PELL grant it states only $767. Is this normal?

Are you still a full time student? Are you in your final semester for receiving Pell?

bump

Yes I started this year freshman. My fall semester is a lot higher than my Spring.

Pell is paid based on credits. You have to have 12+ credits to get the full amount, and it’s reduced based on enrollment. If you are still choosing classes, your Pell grant will increase as you add classes.

Another reason Pell can be reduced is if you are taking courses that are not directly required for your major.

I am taking COMP SCI in a cuny and idk what else to take that is related to math. It’s filled with arts and humanity classes ;(

What is the recommended course of study for a comp sci degree at your college? I can’t imagine it wouldn’t include statistics (typically taught at the college of Arts and Sciences), or have a sequence for things like philosophy/logic, or linguistics? It’s not all math.

Follow the recommended path to complete a degree at your college so you don’t get sidetracked or have to tack on extra (not eligible for financial aid) semesters… if you can’t figure out how to register for a full load, make an appointment to see your adviser ASAP.

You need to be taking classes that are required for your major. I second @blossom 's advice to schedule an appointment with an adviser ASAP.
