I applied to UIUC as a Comp Sci major but was accepted as an ECE major. Would it be difficult to switch from the ECE program into the CS program? And if it would be, are job prospects for ECE majors as good as CS majors at Illinois?

I’m trying to decide between Illinois, Pitt, and the University of Delaware right now, Pitt and UDel are $80,000 cheaper for me (Pitt instate, Udel financial aid) but I’m starting to wonder if it would be worth it to go to Illinois if the chances of getting a job out of graduation would be that much higher…

Here’s a post from Drusba in 2010 in response to differences between ECE and CS. As for transfering, it depends on the number of openings available in any given year, and the caliber of the people requesting a transfer.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush… Why not contact the 80k cheaper schools and find out which companies recruit CS majors there. I think you will be surprised at the quality. I would go with the CS major at one of those, particularly if you hope to end up working in the eastern US.
