While the grandkids have been sending emails with photos of their kids to the great grandmothers, I was thinking due to COVID, maybe it was time for something new. I know there are digital photo frames where pictures can be loaded in advance, but also some where you email photos and they go directly to the frame, so wifi enabled. Looking for advice on pros and cons of any you have tried. How is picture quality, frame size, can you send videos, storage capacity, etc…? Thinking about these for Mother’s Day gifts. I think we would prefer one where pictures can be email by the grandchildren since they are all in different locations and this would be easiest for the GM.
Skylight is the one I have seen where you can set up an email address that goes straight to the device. Pix-Star, Aura and Nixplay are other brands I have seen. While both great grandmothers have some internet skills at 89 and 95 years old, I would like to make it simple for both; otherwise I will be the one getting the phone calls for help!
Currently my kids send my mother pictures and videos through Whats App and she watches them over and over again on her phone. We tried setting up her iPad, but Whats App doesn’t have an iPad app and the work around was too difficult for her as she couldn’t remember how to get back in. My niece sends with a Google shared folder, but again, my mother forgets to look there even though I have the app on her first page of her iPad. Not sure if my MIL will really care, but with 10 great grandchildren, with 5 under the age of 5, I though it would be a good gift idea.
