Dilemma between schools. Which should I choose?

I have a bit of a dilemma. I have been accepted into two of my top choice schools and I am unsure which school I should attend this coming fall 2015.

I have gotten accepted into Penn State (York) and also The New School (Eugene Lang). They’re both very good schools. The problem is, which school is better. I am still very very skeptical about my major, it’s between psychology, or graphics. The New School has both of those, while Penn State York only has one. My guardian is worried that I will regret my decision to going to The New School, because it’s not really a known school, and the degree won’t look as good as Penn State. I really enjoy graphics, but I know psychology it’s a better career. I’m stuck between being happy and loving what I do, or choosing something “socially acceptable.”

My guardian thinks I’m choosing The New School over Penn State due to location. I just don’t want her to be disappointed in me because she says that I am wasting my talents.

I do know that a Penn State degree looks better than a New School degree, but what do you think I should do?

I would love to read people’s opinions and insight. Thank you.

The New School is very well known among anyone that knows anything about schools. It will look as good as Penn State on any application. It is not a new school at all. It is about 100 years old. it was known as the New School for Social Research until recently. But it is very very different from Penn State-even the York campus. Psychology is not necessarily a better career than graphics-on fact these days you may be better off with graphics. Psychology is routinely on the list of majors that end up with the lowest paying jobs. These are two very different schools but don’t consider the New School as unknown. It is very well known.

Also, Penn State - York is not all that well known, since the Penn State that people know about is the University Park campus.
