Dilemma!

Alright, so I’m not sure what I’m supposed to include in the additional info section. I’ve taken the SAT only once, without any prep, and my Maths and CR score was 750 and 670 respectively. I’ll be applying to UChic, but the CR scores of the 25th percentile are 700. Should I just tell them I didn’t prepare for the SAT in the AI section? It’ll probably make me look insencere and someone who’s just trying to make excuses, but hey, I know nothing about what goes on in the admission officers’ minds.

Well technically, you’re not supposed to prep in the first place. I don’t think telling them that you didn’t “prepare” will help you in anyway possible.
'

Hmm. Didn’t know that.

Also, there isn’t much scope for EC’s in my city (international), so I don’t really have anything significant. Most of my EC’s are restricted to out of school activities, so can I include that?

Extracurriculars are any activities that do not pertain to your educational schedule. So yes, you can put them.

You DON’T say: I wasn’t prepared. That’s excuse making and will sink you immediately.

You retake the SAT in Jan and/or the ACT in FEB. Your scores for being an international applicant are going to be a huge barrier for you. UChic does not require SATIIs, thankfully.

Well, I scored 118/120 in my TOEFL, so will that in any way compensate for my low CR scores?

Well, I scored 118/120 in my TOEFL, so will that in any way compensate for my low CR scores?

No. Two very different tests meant to measure different things.

I have heard the opposite. When you score high enough in SAT CR, TOEFL may be waived for many schools.

I hope it works the other way around too haha

@billscho: Certainly American colleges can waive TOEFL if the applicant scores well in SAT CR. But 750/650 for an international applicant to UChic is a non-starter, IMHO.
