Dilemma

to make a long story short
i wasn’t even going to apply to stanford
but then my counselor told me I couldn’t
so
I DID
my top is chapman; i was accepted and got a dean’s scholarship
now the problem is my safety-usf, just gave me a 30k scholarship
and my mother who’s always said “it’s not about the money”
is mad I don’t want to go there
there’s also this rumor that everyone who applied to the ucb alumni scholarship and got a confirmation email is pracitcally a shoe in for admission
AND
I really worked hard on my Stanford apps, on top of the fact they’re apparently taking this families w/less than 40k a year into consideration (my mom’s a single parent-26k)
if I get into stanford and ucb as well
I’m screwed
What are the chances I will/won’t get in to stanford?
I won’t be offended if you say i’ll be R;that’d just make my decision easier

I’m in love with my stanford essay

a;slkdjf;lsjf-so confused

Do you need to reply to those programs before you hear back from Stanford? If not, then wait it out. If your essays were really great and you had very strong recs it could happen. The SATs are a bit low, but if you’re #2 in the class and have very strong teacher recs that basically suggest that standardized tests just aren’t your thing… it is possible. If you come across as a really interesting person then who knows?

One person’s opinion, for whatever it is worth…
Your SAT and ACT are low for Stanford. And though you appear to be a great student and are highly motivated, the admissions office probably won’t cut you slack(there are just too many great kids applying). You should take the money to USF; if you are indeed as good as you say, and get great grades, you can go to law or business school at Stanford, which is FAR MORE IMPORTANT than your undergrad.

You have a great opportunity, please take full advantage of it.

In my opinion: Undergrad is far more important because you get to explore your interest more so than as a graduate student. Different school have different personalities. Follow the school that match your interests. Doesn’t make sense to go to a college that doesn’t have what you wish to explore. Good luck!

Your stats are low for Stanford, and withdrawing from Calc and Physics looks bad. But if you can wait with your decision till you hear from them, give it a shot…
