Dilemma

I have already applied interim decision to Rice. They require the SAT 2’s and I took mine at the beginning of December. It was the only time I took them. I felt fairly confident after I finished with them until I got my scores yesterday.

Math IC: 730
Writing: 720
Literature: 530

I don’t know what happened. I have a strong background in English and I felt comfortable taking this test. The only possible explanation besides just bombing it, is that I skipped a question in the booklet and forgot to do so on the answer sheet. I am usually very careful about this so it seems highly unlikely.

So here’s the question. Rice will get these scores regardless because I sent them when I registered to test. Should I retake the test in January and move into the regular decision pool, or should I stick with interim decision and hope that they realize this is very out of character for me? Which one will give me a better chance at being admitted?

Anyone have any advice?

Don’t know but Lit is supposed to have a notorious curve. You can’t miss many or your score really sinks.

I’d retake - shows you care and have the inititative to try to improve the score. D had same problem with US History and she is taking again in January.
