Diminishing returns of... partying

I partied a lot when I was at high school.
But since I’m at university and wanted to get used to a newer lifestyle, discover new aspects, etc. … … … … … … … everyone else is partying.
My question is… what’s the point of partying?
If you often go to parties, why do you do so?

Do you have no other hobbies/interests perhaps?

Since I’m at college I party only once or twice a week, but I first thought it was a joke when everyone keeps throwing parties all the time.

Really… what’s the point?

Don’t you think once a week, or even 1-2 a month isn’t enough? Why?

EDIT: Well, I have a theory… could it be that people keep going to parties until they find a good catch… but they actually never find a good catch and therefore they keep going again and again?

Party to meet new people, to dance, to have fun, to goof off, to hang out with friends, to forget about problems (not alcohol)…to not be bored, because there’s nothing else to do…i could keep going if you want

I know, I know, I perfectly agree.
But I’m talking quantity-wise.
Why are there people who can’t imagine a life without going to 4-5 parties a week?

That’s an interesting question. I know people who actually can’t live without going to at least 2 different parties every night.
