Does anyone know what happened to the biochem classes? Were they going to be part of the consolidation of the course numbers that’s happening within bio? I ask because if you go to student center, search for Fall 2010, and include full classes, you still can’t see any biochem classes. it doesn’t even matter which course numbers you look for, including using the “less than” function.

During pre-enroll I definitely signed up for biochem (the one required for bio majors) but a few days ago I realized that it doesn’t show up on my schedule anymore. I am slightly disconcerted, but given that I can’t even find the classes through a search, I am inclined to suppose it’s some kind of studentcenter malfunction. it would be nice to know whether anyone else has trouble though.

i dont know the reason to the problem but it MAY be due to

Change from BioBM and BioGD to BioMG
Any course that has been previously named with a BioGD or BioBM prefix has been changed to BioMG (the majority of the course numbers and titles have remained the same)

So the system may be upgrading?

That’s pretty strange. I signed up for BIOMG 3300 during pre-enroll, and it still shows up in my schedule (I just checked).

Also, I’m almost certain that the the course subject was already changed from BIOBM to BIOMG/BIOG when I pre-enrolled. Just sayin’. I remember…because I was somewhat confused about it. :p

I was able to find biochem courses (individually) on Student Center by entering the course number, course career, and class Nbr (this is under “Additional Search Criteria”). So they didn’t disappear entirely. :)

^thanks for that info. I realized that my trouble finding the courses was that I was searching for either “Biochemistry” or “Biochem, Molecular & Cell Bio” when what I needed was “Molecular Biology and Genetics.” I do remember being confused by that while pre-enrolling, since they took the biochem out of the title altogether.

I still don’t know why the class is gone from my schedule, but it looks like there are still plenty of seats open, so I’ll just add it before the semester starts.

^You’re welcome. I’m sure you’ll have no problem adding it before the semester starts.
