Disappointing score after self studying… delete or nah

Self studied for AP Physics 1, and due to some unfortunate events I couldn’t study as well as I thought I could. Got a 2 in AP Physics 1, though I have a 99% unweighted average in honors physics and all 5s and 4s on my other ap exams. Should i just delete my physics score or nah?

You can submit a request to have it deleted.

Hardly any colleges require AP scores. I’m thinking of Oxford and Cambridge primarily. No college will be impressed by a 2, you won’t get credit or placement for that score. Some colleges accept AP scores in lieu of SAT/ACT scores. Each college will indicate their policy. Most of the time, it’s up to you to self-report the score. If you enroll, you’ll then submit the score officially if you want credit or placement for it.

Colleges generally prefer to see grades in classes. That’s a better indicator, to them, of your ability to do well in that subject. There isn’t usually a good reason to self study for an AP exam, unless you want credit for the score at college, or you are interested in the subject but your school doesn’t offer that class.

Don’t self study an AP if your school offers the class. Take the class and get a good grade.

AP scores are invariably self reported in the application. Don’t report a 2. When you get accepted and send the score report, the clerical processing for credit won’t care that you got a 2.

The CB score cancelation fee is a scam. Don’t do it.

Cancelling scores is free. Witholding is what costs money.

I do not see any value in having a 2 on a self-studied AP test. I would delete it.

Depending upon what year you are in (sorry I do not recall from your other threads) you might have time to take AP Physics as a high school class.

I would not be discouraged by your results in self-studying. Physics is something that at least to me seems easier to learn in a class environment, preferably with labs if this is possible (or at a minimum demonstration of labs, even if the student does not get to do it themselves).

Don’t beat yourself up - Physics 1 is notoriously hard exam. Only 8% of this year’s takers got a 5.
