<p>Do colleges somehow know the list of other colleges to which an applicant applied? If so, does it have any impact on the admissions decision? </p>

<p>Also, how important is an official visit to admission decisions for schools that are more than a day’s drive away from home?</p>

<p>No. School’s do not communicate with each other about specific applicants. That would probably violate a privacy code.
Visiting isn’t necessary, unless the school suffers from Tufts Syndrome.</p>
