Discovered I Have 58 UC Units, but UCB already accepted me!

Hey everybody. I’m really worried, because I think I may have made a huge mistake here…

I thought I was so certain that my classes were fine, I checked 3 times and I guess I still overlooked that POSCI 4 is only accepted at CSU (according to my school’s course catalog). When I applied to UCB, I told them the classes I already took and what I planned on taking, and they still accepted me. However, that only adds up to 58 UC units by my count.

Obviously, you need 60 to transfer and I’m now worried that I might be screwed. They accepted me for the spring and made clear that you cannot take summer classes to fulfill any requirements. I have my IGETC completed and I’m in the phase where they just want my transcripts. I even already paid the $100 SIR.

Has anyone else been in this situation? Is this it for me?

I mean, they accepted me even with me inputting my taken and planned courses into their application system. I stuck to the plan that I gave them. Should I just ignore the fact that, by my count, I have 58 units and continue to send in my transcripts like normal?

You should contact your admissions officer. I remember this happening to someone in the past, and UCB actually acknowledged that they made a mistake by accepting them, but still upheld their acceptance. I don’t want to get your hopes up though, it could go either way.

Update: I made this post after an initial panic and now I feel really stupid. My current school’s course catalog said CSU only, however, I did some more looking around and realized; POSCI 4 is on the articulation agreement for the Political Science Major. It also shows up on assist.org as an accepted class at UC. It sounds like my school mislabeled it.

@ThatOnePerson12 Good! Yeah, I believe admission officers already knew about those courses. Therefore, they accepted you.
