honestly I think this award is pretty easy to win. As long as you’re involved you’re going to get it. My friends and I have all won this award haha.

Hey happymunkee, you mentioned “As long as you’re involved you’re going to get it.” While this isn’t quite the case, the Discus Awards aims to recognize students who are involved in three different key areas.

In terms of the bar set by the merit-based Dicus Awards program, fewer than 40% of total applicants have received a Discus Award. As for the scholarship, fewer than .05% of total applicants have been awarded the [Discus Awards Scholarship.](http://www.discusawards.com)

Sounds like you and your friends are very well-rounded!

haha sorry if I came off snobby or anything! I meant involved as in “well-roundedly” involved, of course. When I’m saying that it’s easy to win, I’m comparing it to other major scholarships like Cola Cola and Gates; so of course, you still have to have a good background to become an award winner.

You’re right in that Coca Cola Scholars and some of the other scholarship programs are tougher to receive recognition from. One of the main factors there is that these other programs are typically pure scholarship programs where Discus Awards is a recognition AND scholarship program.

I listed references for two of my attributes and they informed me that they hadn’t received any sort of email regarding my application. Will they definitely receive an email asking for a recommendation or is it random?

Since they pick a winner each month is there a policy about applying during more than one month? Do you get a “random chance” based on which month you apply or are people submitting their applications repeatedly? I just don’t know much about this competition and wondered what you know.

@creativecrew - You can only apply for the program once each year. That application will last the whole year, so if you are a Discus Award winner in January, you can still be selected to win the scholarship in June.
