Discussion Classes

Would it be better to be in a bigger discussion class (20- 30 students) or a smaller one (less than 20 students)?

If you always have questions to ask, then smaller is better. If you’re a background student who just shrugs and listens, it doesn’t matter.

I would think smaller, so you get more attention from the TA and it’s easier to ask questions. Although sometimes a discussion class is larger by virtue of the size of the lecture (i.e. multiple lectures for the same class but which are different capacities) or perhaps because one TA is better than another, or due to the time/day of the discussion. A larger discussion could be better in the sense that it increases the chances of someone who is not afraid to ask (good) questions to the TA (from my experience I’ve had discussions where no one responds to the TA or asks anything), and could allow you to meet more people. But at this point I think I’m just overthinking it.
