<p>@DoubleW: I know what you mean, I’m ranked #2 in my class, I am the President of 3 clubs, Vice President of 2, I am taking High School classes and I am an Early Admission Student, but my father made over $72,000. It bothers me, because I am attending the University of Miami, for which the annual cost is expected to be $55,000. To me, that’s financial need, even if the SAR says that I don’t need any.</p>

<p>This scholarship is the only way I can get into college; my parents can’t give me any money, and according to my SAR, they don’t have to. But this thread has helped me relax a little about what’s going on. I’ve been following it for months now, but just joined. Good Luck to everyone else who is nearly fainting in anticipation.</p>

<p>I just spoke to a GMS rep. She said ten days from now (April 23rd) you should have heard back. So that’s our time range. This Thursday (April 15th) til April 23rd.</p>

<p>It’s the same with me! My mom made roughly the same amount. My EFC is 4972, which is really worrying me. I wrote that letter, but I doubt it made a difference. They probably just discarded it without even reading it.</p>

<p>I don’t think you can find out early this year. The results will probably come out on the 15th, but I desperately hope they’ll come out tomorrow though! I can’t wait anymore!!! :/</p>
<p>Hey Obstinate, did the Gates Rep. say that we’ll start receiving results on April 15th? Do the results come out all at once or gradually? Did you ask her how many applicants became finalists this year? </p>
<p>And by the way, does any of you guys’ college require Health Insurance because mine does. Yet the school health insurance fee is not included in the financial aid form I received, and I need at least 1500/year for it. Do you think I can tell the financial aid office to put it on the financial aid form? Because obviously my (future) college doesn’t list enough fees, esp. miscellaneous fees, on the financial aid form. It doesn’t even include fee like laptop fee (I need one for college) and stuff like that… Argh.</p>

I THINK it pays for health insurance and your school will determine how to do that in the scholar’s packet…but i dont think they provide for a laptop</p>

<p>I think they pay for health, mines $1000 but the healthcare deal just passed and medicaid should make a substitute when I was talking to my school. It’s like, the medicaid was extended a bit so I’m covered, I just use the dentist and eye doctor anyway. There are substitutions to the school healthcare, try working it out, especially with this new plan. And if your pell grant eligible you should be eligible for the reduced option. </p>

Smith wasn’t my top choice, but I could have gone to MA for the first time.</p>
