I am a Junior at Princeton. Due to circumstances beyond my control (dealing with diagnosed mental illness) and severe grade deflation, and simply not being as brilliant as my peers (working my hardest, I would probably get Bs/B+s, As occasionally), I did poorly. My GPA is a 2.63. I am an English major, so I guess there really isn’t any excuse for my lousy grades. LSAT: 175.

At this point, I am wondering:
Is Boston University inconceivable? What about Boston College, USC or UCSD? I plan on applying after I graduate so my senior year grades will factor in. What schools in California, Boston, or NYC area are realistic for me?
Should I take a year off and take classes at a local college to “boost” my gpa, since the law school GPA calculation factors in all transcripts?

Law school only uses the undergraduate GPA into th eir calculations. If you graduate, no further grades count in the LSDAS computation.

As for BU, I went to a law school predictor calculator. You should do a google search for Law School calculators. You have about a 50%-65% chance of being accepted to BU with your 175 LSAT.

Im sorry about your dismal GPA. But since your LSAT score itself is like Yale law school-level, if you write a really well-written personal statement about your circumstance, I think you have a good shot at BU.

Don’t apply to LS your senior year. Instead, take at least a year off, so that all four years of your UG are counted towards gpa. If you mean you are going into your junior year, you’ve got 2 years to boost your gpa. Do the best you can to get a high gpa in the next 2 years and it will help.
