Dismissing a thread

I apparently dismissed a pinned thread, Parents of disabled kids, in the Parents Cafe.

How do I undismiss it so it will appear pinned again for me ?

@CCadmin_Sorin

Is that like bookmarking a thread? Click on where it says “bookmark” under the thread title when the thread is open. Alternatively, in the forum, where it lists all the threads, click on the star to the left of the thread title.

Thank you. I have bookmarked the thread and the star shows yellow for me and I get notifications of new posts.

I just noticed that the thread no longer is pinned for me and ccadmin sorin suggested that I may have dismissed it.

I don’t know what dismissing means. If you click on the gear symbol on a pinned thread, a pop up appears at the bottom of the page. It says ‘dismiss’. I guess I did that accidentally and the thread is no longer pinned for me only.

@DeniseC, yes, to dismiss a thread you need to click on the gear icon and then hit “dismiss.” Unfortunately, once you dismiss a thread you cannot reverse the action, but as @skieurope suggested, bookmarking should help with better monitoring the discussion.

@CCadmin_Sorin Thanks for clarifying. I never even noticed a dismiss option before.

Thank you both.

Why can you not undo a dismissed thread? This just happened to me, too. It’s the only thread in my feed that had a gear. I thought the word “dismiss” meant to make the gear go away, not the thread. There are many many threads I would love to dismiss and never see again, but that was the one I need. It makes no sense to me. Why don’t any of the other threads have that gear?

^^ Exactly what I thought when I clicked dismiss! Not particularly easy to understand.
