Disney Time Share rentals ?

I am trying to find out some information about how to go about looking into rentals for Disney time shares in Orlando ( Lake Buena Vista ) I know that a lot of people who own the time shares rent them out when they cannot use them. I don’t want to buy and it seems like renting directly from Disney is a little out of hand for us in terms of cost.
Two years ago , our accountant let us use his time share at Saratoga Springs and we really loved it. We would love to be able to stay there or ane of the other similar resorts right on the Disney property. I have thought about asking him , but don’t want to seem like I am fishing for a freebie , since he was generous enough the fisrt time. Also , I should say we would be looking to vacation around Columbus Day weekend

Check out disboards.com. There are all sorts of forums for all the different topics including DVC (Disney Vacation Club) which is their time share program. Lots of helpful, knowledgeable people, just like CC! It’s the other board I frequent the most.

member here; but I have no points left for this year (or I would offer)…you should be able to find something on the above referenced forum…

thank you both ! I looked on the forum …wow ! lot’s of stuff on there and I have to figure out the point system and how it translates to $$ and availabilty.

Why don’t you check out eBay? I have a timeshare in CA, I have sold my week a few times when I couldn’t use it, and each time has been very much at a discount. I just went on it and found 106 auctions.

Try redweek.com. You communicate with and rent directly from the person who owns the week/unit. Depending on the particular week, the Saratoga Springs Resort you mentioned rents anywhere from $130 to $270 per night through Redweek. I haven’t used this site to rent at Disney, but I did use it to rent a week in Sedona, AZ one time and it worked out great.

Also, you can rent Disney World rooms/condos through Hotels.com . I don’t know what level of accommodations you’re interested in, but we booked the Disney Port Orleans Riverside (classified as a moderate resort) this past March on Hotels.com for about $160 per night. It was a very nice hotel with beautiful grounds, and it would have been much more expensive if we had booked it directly with Disney.

Try dvcrentals.com, as well as the disboards. They are apparently very reliable, and they have a points calculator (tells you how many points you need for whatever you’re looking for on your particular dates). You have to pay a bit more for the points than if you rented directly from the owner, but to me it’s worth it to avoid the risk of dealing with an unscrupulous owner (or someone posing as an owner).

You could call your accountant and ask him if you could rent his… but be prepared to insist on paying if he offers it for free (otherwise you are fishing for a freebie). You could check out those rental boards first to get an idea of a reasonable rate to offer.

how about Craigs list for vac rentals in orlando

another website to look at is tug2.net (Timeshare users group). I don’t know how active it is anymore, but I sold my timeshare there 10+ years ago.

I emailed my accountant because his daughter knows a lot of ins and outs about navigating the parks , meal plans and getting the best bang for the buck…he did indeed offer up his un-used points …but like inparent suggests , would most definately want to PAY. Still have to discuss with my husband, but it really would be nice to take a little family vacation again. Most of our trips are based around visiting family and would like to make our own time to enjoy.
