<p>We live abroad and two different colleges have asked our son to travel over 150 miles for an alumni interview – is this normal?</p>
<p>Is this a required interview or one that your son has requested?</p>
<p>I think it depends on whether or not you need to get on a plane or other expensive mode of transportation. We drove over two hours (about 120 miles) twice for interviews. It wasn’t really that big of a deal. If a plane, train or ferry had been involved, I would have requested an online (iChat or Skype) interview if possible.</p>
<p>We drove 107 miles each way. However, around here that’s not considered a big deal.</p>
