Is Tulane a diverse university when it comes to geography? Or are most of the students from the Southern states? Is there a large amount of international students? I’m seriously considering Tulane, but I’m from the North and don’t want to go to a school that is dominated by only southern students.

Tulane is a school in the south with a very large population from the northeast. To get actual breakdowns, I am not sure if these are the actual # but I have the Hullabaloo in my hands right now and they say.
Females: 50.8%
Males: 49.2%

75% students come from 500 miles away or more.

25% from north east
20% from south

States with most students in descending order: LA, TX, NY, IL, FL, MA, NJ, MA, CA, TN

Tulane had students from all the states in the US except Wyoming and North Dakota in its last freshman class.

Hope this helps you.

And I believe there were students from 18 different countries this past year (I don’t have the Hullabaloo in front of me right now, though. . .it was all reported in that).

Ok, thanks. That makes me feel better about applying.

tulane may not be socio-economically or racially diverse, but it is MOST definitely geographically diverse. around campus i see license plates from virtually every state in the country. but to be honest i really doubt how valuable geographic diversity is. however, it does say one thing great about the school- that people are willing to live far far away to go to this school.
