Yes, but not the same as in undergrad. Diversity is more the cherry on top - you have to be clearly competitive with the other applicants. If you can add some diversity to the department, the committee might get excited and you might be eligible for more fellowship or scholarship aid, but it’s not going to get you in in and of itself.
