<p>I’ve written a few essays for college and they are around 800 words long. Is this size the norm?</p>

<p>No. 500 is standard. Cut down on repetitve adjectives and adverbs. </p>

<p>but seriously, i had an 800 one too, cuz my topic was so deep mannnn. i cut it down to about 500 though, not particularly hard to do</p>

<p>uhh … mine is about 800 words. i’ve heard it is okay. i read my friend’s who got into HYPS and his was 900 words. the word count isn’t what they care about. it is the content and what you have to say. they won’t be counting words. i wouldn’t go over 1000 words, which i’ve heard.</p>
