Do Admissions Officers send responses on your essays?

Do admissions officers give back responses and critique students’ essays? I saw essays that were given responses online but I am not sure if they give each student a response when giving the decisions. Is there a short response for every student? Or only very strong essays?

There are only a very few schools that personalize acceptance letters with details. Those that do sometimes refer to a strong essay. Most don’t. I have never heard of anyone getting a critique involving negative comments.

Sometimes – if you’re accepted. Never if not accepted.

Like griffen said, sometimes people will jot down a nice sentence or two on the acceptance letter – hoping the personalized touch will sway the accepted student into matriculating. That’s all.

Critiques to help students? No way.

An opportunity to better market the school? You bet.
