For example, if I were to take Calculus II, would the class do a some review of Calculus I material before beginning the Calculus II coursework? And if I were to take Calculus III, would the class review Calculus II material before beginning, or Calculus I AND II, or no review at all?
I am wondering because I plan on taking Calculus II at Cornell, but I am coming back from a leave of absence, so the last time I took Calculus I was a long time ago.
You might consider an independent refresher of the topic. There are a free videos available (for instance, from openculture at http://www.openculture.com/math_free_courses) that you can peruse at your leisure.
Thanks for the response comom. I’ll be sure to save that link.
I am not sure how much time I will be able to use to review before I return to Cornell and take Calculus II. Do you think I could get away with no review at all? I have always been good at math (got a 5 on Calculus I AP Test), and am good at catching on pretty quickly.
In other words, just how much does Calculus II coursework depend on immediate recall of knowledge from Calculus I? Some higher level courses require prerequisites just to make sure you can handle the difficulty, but the coursework may not depend so much on the prerequisite coursework. I am wondering if this is the case for Calculus I and II.
