I’m currently in the middle of my undergrad and thinking about what to do this summer. On the one hand, I could probably find some type of intership that has to do with my field (Political Science and later, hopefully public policy or administration) but said internship would probably be unpaid (or poorly paid) and not really have that much to do with my field anyways.

On the other hand I got offered a job working for the Federal Border Security agency (whatever it’s called in Canada…) where I would get paid really good money ($15 to $18) but I also wouldn’t really be doing something that has to do with my field.

That said, if I ever sent in a graduate school application saying that I worked for the Federal Government, do they care what it was doing? Do they care period?
