I am also a boarding student so I am wondering about the weekend life, the food and what the dorm looks like
It’s much more of a day school (15% boarding, including 5 day boarders), and many of the boarders are local but want to avoid a daily commute (but go home on the weekends.) It’s in a beautiful, leafy suburb of Pittsburgh, not so far from downtown. People in that part of the country are, in general, genuinely friendly and helpful. My guess is that while the boarding environment is less robust, people will invite you home with them on weekends. It’s probably less of the BS experience you’d have at a school that had more boarders, but it’d probably be a very nice, authentic American high school experience.
Many students will have known each other prior to senior school, socially or from SSA middle/lower school or the handful of other independent schools in the area. This shouldn’t dissuade you, but it’s different from many BS where the vast majority of entering students are all equally unconnected at the start.
Thank you!
And congratulations!
