Do Big Scholarships Exist For Undergrads?

High school students have Questbridge, Coke, etc. Do Any large scholarships like these exist for current college students?

@Philly2College Yeah, but that’s only for community college kids right?

Realistic answer: not really. The money is for high school seniors. If you waited until undergrad or didn’t win, your funding chances are really a lot smaller.

If you’re already in the school, then why does that school need to waste limited funds to entice you to stay?

Some schools offer them within the school, particularly by department. I know my D’s school does, so I imagine others do as well, but you were asking about outside scholarships and I can’t think of many. I think maybe Ann Taylor?

Department awards aren’t usually “big” though. As @mom2collegekids posted in a thread a while back, her son received something like a one-time $800 award for being the top maths student. I’d say that’s pretty standard. My department is similar.

Institutional funding for matriculating students is typically small and requires outstanding accomplishment.
