Hi all,

This question is external of applications/academic. I’m just wondering for my own knowledge of collegiate athletics and social structure.

Texas A&M - College Station is (at least here in Georgia) seen as THE TAMU. My question for Texas residents/TAMU fanatics is do students at TAMU-Corpus Christi, TAMU-San Antonio, TAMU-Commerece etc. “root” for the same athletic team/brand?

Do students at branch campuses say “I go to TAMU” or do they say “I go to TAMU-Corpus Christi”? Do they all root for the Aggies? How about employability? I know they might have different admissions standards/programs, but do students at other campuses also vouch for the “name” of TAMU? How about alumni interactions?

Other examples like this include:
In California…UCLA…UC-Berkley…UC-San Diego…UC-Santa Barbara…
In Washington…UW-Seattle…UW-Bothell…UW-Tacoma…
In Ohio…Ohio State-Columbus…Ohio State-lima…
In Alabama…University of Alabama…University of Alabama-Birmingham
In North Carolian…UNC-Chapel-Hill…UNC-Charlotte…
In Michigan…University of Michigan-Ann Arbor…UMISH-Dearborn

etc.

I’m just trying to understand thoughts out there. I KNOW they’re academically and institutionally different universities.

Thanks!
