Hey guys,

I was just wondering if CALS (AEM) which is my first choice at Cornell and ILR emphasize class rank. Right now, I’m in the top 20% of my class. I’m Hispanic and have outstanding EC’s, recommendation letters, and I’m confident about my essays. Would my GPA (3.6) and class rank keep me from being admitted? Thanks!

I applied ED to ILR and got in. At the time I was top 20% as well (graduated top 10 however! =)). ILR seems to care more about your essay. That’s the feel I got from an ILR info session. I wrote a strong essay and had extra curriculars that were very appropriate for ILR (Eagle Scout, Debate, FBLA) so they seem to look for good fits. I don’t know much about AEM but it’s fairly small so probably more competitive academically. You can apply to both schools however which may be a good idea if you’re unsure.
