Do certain colleges disregard your freshman year?

I have heard from many people that certain schools really do not take your freshman year into high consideration, but more so of you Sophmore and Junior year. If true, what schools in particular fallow this ideology? I would like to know about the University of Michigan, Penn State university, and Northwestern University in particular.

I’m not sure about those schools, but I have heard that Princeton disregards your freshman year grades.

I was on u of m’s site and under 11th grade they said, “This is a VERY important year. Colleges usually base their decision on your sophomore and junior year grades.” [Office of Undergraduate Admissions: Preparing for College](http://www.admissions.umich.edu/prospective/8-11thgrade/preparing.php)
