Do Colgate, Davidson and Georgetown recruit for sports

You’d score in the Big East but you weren’t a recruited athlete at your current school?

Anyway, yes coaches at Georgetown probably can get you in (if they want to) but you need to ask them specific questions about the process. I’m not sure how specific they can be given transfer portal rules and the various windows but they should be able to lead you in the right direction.

No idea about Davidson or Colgate. I’d have a direct conversation and ask the coaches, but if they said to get an application in I’d do it asap.

This isn’t a typical situation, even with the transfer portal. If these programs are looking for athletes in the portal they probably had most of those conversations back in the fall.

I’m the best at the school I’m currently at but there was a roster crunch and I was a casualty and now I’m looking for a move do you think with my grades I could get into the schools with just a little help from the coaches

Only the coaches can answer these questions.

ETA: I am not sure it makes sense that if one would be scoring at meets/the best at your school in your event(s) that a roster crunch would impact that athlete. Seems inconsistent. Not challenging you, but encouraging you to see/evaluate the situation clearly (which you don’t have to share here).

To be honest, this doesn’t make sense. You are a freshman, correct? Track has barely started. Why would they not have a roster spot for their best at an event?

Only the coaches can tell you if they’d be willing to support your application. I’m assuming you are a track recruit. Are you participating in the indoor track season? Do you have recent times (or performances) to share with them? As you say you’d be the “best” at your school, what are you basing that on - if you aren’t currently competing?

Trust me I was as confused as you were I guess they’re fine going into the season without someone at my event and dropping points at conference like I genuinely don’t know why I’m not on the team and why the coach is okay with losing

Yeah I have some recent performaces and I was pretty good not pr but I did really well for the first meet of the season

And I’m basing it off my prs being faster than the other guys that they have on the team

So let me get this:

You’re not on the team

The coach isn’t looking to put you on

And you expect other coaches to recruit you?

Sure, we hear stories of a coach so someone in the gym, etc. but this doesn’t seem plausible.

Why not find out when tryouts are for your school. If you’re the fastest or the best, the coach will take note.

Your entire thread history (multiple threads) - to me and and I’ll defer to @Mwfan1921 and others knowledgeable with athletics - but it doesn’t make any sense.

PS - if you’re not on the team - which recent meet did you do your PR in?

You can go unattached to meets and I genuinely don’t know how to describe it other than what it is the coach just didn’t want to add people this year and their best guy is worse than me and I’m transferring because I was very good in high school and some coaches want to recruit me

Assuming you are looking to run track — are you a sprinter? (Just guessing since you said you played basketball.) Look at ttrf website to see how your times fit in and also verify that there is a competent sprints coach on staff before you make any moves. Yes, I would think with a 4.0 gpa you’d have an excellent chance at admission to any of the schools you mentioned.

We had a friend who had a series of injuries and got black listed by his college track coach, they just got off on the wrong foot from day one. So I understand how these things can happen. Thankfully he loves his school and stayed without athletics.

A 4.0 after one semester at an undisclosed school isn’t enough information to make this claim. His high school record and test scores will matter, especially at Georgetown which is test required.

OP should reach out to coaches at schools he’s interested in to see if they’d support his transfer application.

I defer to your expertise since I don’t know much about selective transfer applications. That said, my S25 has a far lower HS gpa than this individual and got definite interest from one of the track
programs mentioned in the OP.

Respectfully, “interest” is not the same as a full coach support with admissions. And without an athletic hook, which OP may or may not get, a transfer is not easy after one semester.

Son was an athlete at Davidson (baseball) and was recruited before his senior year of high school along with the rest of the team. They had one or two transfers over the years but mostly were JUCO kids. You need to talk to the coaches. I am confused though, you are not on the team at your current school ? That may prove an obstacle but who knows… You need to talk to coaches directly , as each school will have its own transfer criteria.

absolutley…my daughter was recruited by Davidson for soccer and we know kids who play soccer and run track at Georgetown and Davidson

are you currently playing college sports? were you recruited in high school? all of these recruit but if you are a transfer that did not play this year and are not in the portal the chances are very unlikely that you will be able to get coach support and use it as a hook. similarly if you were not recruited in high school then i would look for another avenue to help secure transfer admissions. all three schools are highly desirable and have d1 standards for all their sports

so do you have senior year times? do you have competitive times this year? they aren’t going to just take your word for it nor are they going to recruit based on times that are from 3 years ago (your junior year)

OP has addressed all of this in this thread: yes in the portal, not recruited out of HS, not on current team.

The bottom line is that OP has engaged with these coaches and they have asked for grades/academic record and the ball is rolling. Where things end up we don’t know.
