Do Colleges care enough between AB and BC calc?

Our calc AB program is kind of a joke compared to the BC program, I’m doing pretty awfully in BC at the moment, and I’m wondering if colleges take notice between the difference between AB and BC.

I don’t think they care as far as looking at admitting you, but eventual AP test score will determine what kind of credit/placement they give you. At my Ds schools, AB gave 1 calc class credit, while BC received 2 class credits (6-8 hrs depending on school). Both for 5s on test.

I’m pretty sure most of the schools I’m looking to apply to disregard AP scores/credit and make you retake calc anyway.

Then if AB and BC are both the same as far as GPA weighting, then I don’t think being in AB will hurt you…and can help if helps your GPA.

Are you only applying to Caltech and Harvey Mudd? Most other schools do not require retaking freshman calculus if you demonstrate a high enough AP score or sufficiently high score on their own placement test. Caltech and Harvey Mudd “freshman calculus” is more like real analysis (and they want students to have taken a regular calculus course in high school or at a local college before entry).
