<p>I quite band because I lack interest in it, and instead joined AcDec. My main concern is that I’m too academic sided. I want to attend a university like Rice or Duke. But I don’t know if they care too much for me being so academic sided, or that I’m not part of a big think like band. And in my octathlon/decathlon team there’s only 10 of us combined, is that such a bad thing?</p>
<p>They care about your level of involvement in the activity more than they care about the activity itself. Colleges just want to see that you’re committed to something. It doesn’t matter how many other people are involved, an extracurricular can even be a solo thing you do. AcDec is great, what’s important is that you put a lot of energy into it. Since you weren’t interested in band, quitting was probably a good move, since it frees up your time for ECs you actually care about (like AcDec).</p>
