Im wondering since I have a 1540/1600 on the sat but I only have a 710 (US History) and 740 (Sat 2 math). I’m worried that the subject test scores would offset/dilute my good SAT 1 score

Jarjar- with all due respect.

You need to take a deep breathe and calm down. Like the other three threads or so you have running- the answer is “maybe” and “it depends”.

Make sure you have a well rounded list of reach, match and safety schools on your list. Make sure that you’d be happy to attend at least one of your safeties, and that you and your parents can afford it.

And then relax. What good is it if we tell you that in the history of the world nobody has ever been accepted to your schools with “just” a 710? Nothing you can do about it. And of course it wouldn’t be true. So how in the world are these posts helping you?

Go find a mixing bowl and bake a batch of brownies or take a long walk outside. that will do more for your mental health than these posts asking if private school kids have it easier than public et al. It is what it is. You will find the mixing and beating very therapeutic when you start to obsess about college, “prestigious MBA’s vs;.prestigious BBA’s” and all that jazz.

Just thinking… I will be happy when jarjar is done with his search… no offense, but these general questions that no one can really answer aren’t going to help you anyway.

@blossom yea you’re right… I shouldn’t let the whole college thing get to me so much.

JarJar, there is a great college out there that will look at your application and say Wow- we want this kid. Make sure that college is on your list- and now you can relax. big hug.

For what it’s worth, it might be helpful if you were more comfortable giving out information about the schools, majors, careers, etc. that you were interested in. Many of your threads are asking for one-size-fits-all solutions to problems that are extremely case-by-case.

For example, there are many schools that do not even ask for SAT Subject Tests. They don’t even want to see them, so even if you got an 801 on them it wouldn’t even matter. There are some schools that only use SAT Subject Tests to waive some general education requirements. There are some schools that require you to take specific subject tests. Without more information, you can’t get any more than general responses like “it depends”.

I get that you’re stressed out but I think you need to try to target your questions more towards your own personal goals instead of asking really vague, general questions like these.

My older son got rejected from a lot of fine colleges with three 800s in a single sitting on the subject tests. (Shameful Mommy boast there.) I don’t think it did a bit of good, but it was about the only part of the application we didn’t have to wish were better!

Really Jarjar you’ve got very good scores. Most students do a little worse on the subject tests than on the main SAT some don’t. Colleges in general give very, very little information about how they use subject tests - believe me I looked!
