I am currently thinking of attending a junior college or UCSD/UCSB, however my goal and ultimate dream school is USC. I am hoping to transfer there as a sophomore since they do take sophomore tranfers, however, my senior year grades in high school are not the best. Will USC look at my high school grades when considering me as a sophomore transfer, or just my freshman year college grades?
Ask USC.
@Sbp325 Hi! Ironically, I went to USC my freshman year and then transferred to UCSB. Have you visited both UCSB and UCSD? Did you spend time in Isla Vista when you visited UCSB and feel like you got a sense for the community? I comment really only from the perspective of a transfer student about how important “college fit” is. I would go into college (assuming you end up at UCSB or UCSD) with the intention of staying and not with the intention of transferring. Get involved, make friends, and make the absolute most of your experience. If you’re only “1/2 way in”, you’ll never fully know if it’s the right place for you (and USC is obviously a tough admit and not a guarantee). Best of luck to you! UCSB and UCSD have very different “feels” to them, so make sure you visit both to know which environment is a better fit for you. Good luck!
