<p>The selective colleges got into anti-trust legal trouble on this many years ago. I believe they can not share details of offers, but do share their financial aid methodology.</p>
<p>Dadx is correct. They are forbidden from directly sharing specific offers, but some schools do share their methodology with each other. </p>
<p>Of course, since some families do try to “negotiate” better offers by showing another school’s offer, and information about “average” financial aid packages/scholarships at specific colleges is readily available, I think it is also fair to say that most financial aid officers have at least a passing knowledge of how their own institution’s FA packages tend to compare in a broad sense.</p>
<p>only the 568 group are the only colleges that have an exemption from antitrust laws, but only to discuss thier needs methodology. No school can exchange “offers” with one another.</p>

<p>I found this interesting as I have one son who has been getting merit offers from two public pac-10 schools. The offers seem to come within a week of each other and over all have balanced each other out. It seemed odd the scholarship offers would be so close overall but if they share methodology that now makes sense.</p>
<p>The 568 group only deals with need-based aid. Merit aid information is generally not shared.</p>
