I would think that CSUs accept a lot more transfers but looking on this forum a lot of people are getting into UCSB, UCSC, UCD, even UCSD and getting rejected by CSUs like cal poly slo and CSULB. Is this just because this is the UC thread and people on this forum are gearing their classes more towards to UCs and not taking the speech class and other requirements that CSUs have? Anyone have stats on the admit rates/ number of applicants to various CSU’s?

I believe CSUs are also more local oriented. Meaning that if you live in Northern California and apply to CSUs in Southern California, you stand less of a chance than local applicants.

CSUs had 392,591 undergrads across 23 campuses in fall 2013. UC system had 184.562 undergrads across 9 campuses. You’re probably right about the speech class… the higher-tiered CSUs are very strict with the “Golden 4” (2 English, 1 math, speech class) being completed for admission.

CSUs have a preference for their ‘service area’. UCs have a preference for all Ca CCs or secondarily, for UC transfers. Transfers from elsewhere are harder, for each. However, major really matters.
