I’ve read somewhere in the forums that the earlier the interview, the more likely it’ll help your chances. Is this true, and why is that so?

I don’t think anyone but an admissions officer can accurately answer your question. I doubt that it’s true. If you have a weak (for Yale) file and your regional admissions officer decides you won’t go to committee, it’s not like a glowing interview report would have saved you. The interview reports are due by the time committee starts meeting, so they are timely for all the candidates who merit discussion.
