Hello! I had a question about colleges accepting ACT scores. I know that most colleges accept both SAT or ACT and admissions say they don’t favor either one… However, do elite colleges favor one over the other? At my school, not many people get accepted to the Ivy League colleges or Johns Hopkins University, and even less apply to these colleges with ACT scores… Do I have chance to get accepted to these colleges with an ACT score? (I took my first ACT in February 2019 without studying and got a 27, however my SAT scores are never above a 1200… )
Yes, they all take ACT. (But you’ll need to continue working to get your score up for JH or Ivy leagues- absent major hooks seek at least a 33 with higher scores better to be competitive, and most don’t superscore!)
All colleges take either test. Last I read only one college stated they preferred the ACT (that college was on the West Coast). Make sure you have a Safety school that you are sure of being accepted to, would be happy to attend, and can afford.
That ACT score needs to improve to at least a 31, preferably a 33, to make you competitive at top schools.
Yeah I’ll be taking the ACT again and actually prepping for the July one
Some of them require reporting all scores. Just so you aren’t surprised.
Your scores are way too low for the schools you listed. You should definitely retake them.
