Do extracurriculars matter when transferring to USC or Pepperdine?

I know this might be a dumb question, and this is my first time posting on these forums.

But I really want to know, because I have never gotten a straight answer: some say its all around important, with GPA and extracurriculars, while others say that if you have a high GPA it will be enough.

I never got involved with anything in high school, and I really would like to know if I need extracurriculars in college if I plan on transferring to Pepperdine Economics or Marshall School of Business.

I plan on dedicating myself to community college (Glendale, in CA) and attaining a 4.0 GPA. With a 4.0 GPA, do you still need extracurriculars? And a 3.9??

Also, even if I want to transfer as a junior, will it hurt me if I never took the SATs?

Thanks!

for marshall, it would definitely be in your favorite to do ECs, like internships. i’m not sure about pep, but i would think it would only help to show that you are wanting to go the extra mile.

also, once you have 30 units, USC does not care about test scores, so even if you never took them, they won’t care as long as you have 30+ units.

Yes and yes. ECs are very important components of any transfer application. I’m not familiar with the competitiveness of Pepperdine, but I don’t think you’d be a very competitive applicant to USC with just a 4.0 from a community college without some substantial ECs.

Oh, and as for the SAT question, check with the individual schools. If they require the tests, then take them now. If they don’t, I’d take them anyway just to have on hand.
