Do forms need to in by postmark date?

So I checked my application status for University of Miami and Grinnell College and I’m missing both my secondary school report form and transcript for both. It’s been 2 weeks since I sent them out how long do the forms usually take to send? I live in Chicago so maybe it takes longer for schools far away. The application deadlines were Nov.1 and Nov.15(ED) so I’m a little worried since I sent the forms out kinda late.

Assuming you are checking on the school portal where your application status is updated from time to time (and not on your common app account) it is normal during busy periods for there to be a lag in those portals. Schools have to receive bits of your app, be sure they are assigned to the correct applicant and update the portal. Those are three separate processes and the portal update is the last of the three, so chances are your recs have been received by now but the portals aren’t yet updated. You can email your admissions counselor at each school to check directly on the status of your apps, but at this busy time you will most likely get an answer to the effect that they will let you know if anything is missing.

The deadline policy varies from school to school. Most school would use the postmark (or date/time stamp) as the proof. Some schools like UMich wants items to be received by the deadline, and yet, they allow some delay. Don’t worry to much if you find an item missing within a week from the time they should have received it particularly if it is by mail. It will take them some time to file the document into your file and update the status. Even with electronic submission, very often there is a 1-2 weeks delay on the status update.

Thank you I’m worried and I just realized I forgot to submit my ED form too so I’m hoping the status will be updated in the next week or 2
