Do Harvard students have common sense....

So i had my interview and the guy gives me a math equation to solve. Under the impression that this is a serious interview, i whip out my calculus equations and try to figure it out…turns out the answer is so very simple/stupid and just required looking at the picture; he told me harvard students use too much info/have no common sense(not in a negative way)…

Anyway… just felt like saying to those who still need to interviewers be wary!

interview*

what was the equation?

uh oh. bad news for me.

nothing of that sort happened during my interview…

I’m also curious as to what the equation was

And you just happened to have you calculator handy during the interview? haha :)

Yeah… uhhh, give us more details!

This is definitely a unique experience.

haha, don’t feel bad magerie. it’s probably what most of us over-wound and eager-to-impress harvard wannabes would do too (you actually took calculator to interview, or just carry one around all the time?)

great point made by interviewer though - gotta hang on to that common sense in all the madness!

“i whip out my calculus equations” - I don’t think she used a calculator at all =p

no i did not have a calculator; although, that would be interesting if someone did bring one to an interview.

It wasnt an equation where you solve for x or something it was a geometry diagram that you can solve with differentials or by simply looking at the pic…sry i dont know how to draw with a keyboard…:)

good luck at your interview!!!
and remember they are not trying to point out your flaws but to show a common misconception about harvard/students

Sorry I misread sometimes when I attempt to glide through material, but that seems like a really cool interviewer, what did you guys discuss?
