I am a Junior in the state of North Carolina
My weighted GPA is 4.67
My unwighted GPA is 3.94
My rank is 29 out of 540 and will probably be even better after this year
And my SAT(1150) and PSAT(1170) scores are very bad.
I have not taken the ACT yet but I received a 29 on the PlanACT
Freshman year I took all honors classes and my lowest grade was a 95
Sophomore year I took all honors classes and took my first AP(AP World) and received my lowest grade in that class (92)
This year I am taking 5 AP classes and have all A´s (mostly low A´s) except in APUSH which I have an 86 in and will most likely stay at that grade all year. The other 2 classes I´m taking are honors and I have A´s in them. My school runs a 10 point grading school if that matters.
I play Varsity lacrosse since my freshman year
I am in Key Club, Amnesty Club, Spanish Club and National Honors Society
I have many volunteer hours and also work for Pinehurst resort
What schools should I be looking at? I want some options before I start narrowing down where I want to go
If you have a weakness, it may relate to your current standardized scoring results (though you may have good potential for the ACT). For some test optional/flexible recommendations, you can read through here:
Run the Supermatch tool on the left side of this page. Then run the Net Price Calculator on each school’s web site to see how much your family will have to pay. Discuss those numbers with your parents.
You obviously do better on the ACT format, so study for the ACT vs the SAT. 29 on the plan should really give you mid 30s as your real score, why you scored so much lower on your SAT and PSAT is something you could reflect on. PSAT and Planact are usually sat cold, but not real SAT (did you study? Why did you sit it already). SIgn up for an ACT prep class and you have until March for the school ACT, then have a couple more tries in the next 2 sittings.
I did not study for the SAT or PSAT and I sat just to see where I was at in the realm of standardized testing. Thank you for the options though your comment really helped. Do you know if I can get into a school like UNC Chapel Hill?
You have an excellent shot at getting into a college! You may want to look at the test optional schools. Google “fairtest” or something like that. And take the ACT. Ask your guidance counselor what kind of stats the kids in your school have when they get into Chapel Hill
