Do I even have a chance of getting in?

So, I’ve just started my second year of college and have made a pretty significant dent in my IGETC (I plan to transfer from a California Community College). My grades- quite frankly- sucked in high school (my life completely fell apart; unfortunately, since it was high school, I couldn’t withdraw and retake my junior year… oh well), but college has been entirely different. I’ve ended up on the dean’s list with a solid 4.0 every semester so far, and I really welcome the challenges of planning ahead for projects and doing work that truly challenges my brain.

The only thing I’m not so great at- which I will be starting on next semester- is math. I’m gearing up by looking into tutoring services, buying “for dummies” books about college math, and just generally trying not to lose my mind over it. I think, with enough focus, I can pass with a C, but I can’t promise anything higher.

Now, I’m wondering how important math will be when looking at my application. I mean, I’ve got three semesters of college- level courses and a kickass gpa to show for all three. But if I end up getting a C in math, would I still be able to get in?

By the way, I am trying to do a double- major in Theatre Arts and Film and Television (I have a huge passion for both acting and television, and I figure they will compliment each other nicely).

Any advice/ tips would be appreciated! Thank you!

check with UCLA to see if a double major is even possible. The requirements to transfer are at https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/tftv.htm I suspect they care less about your math grade than engineering would, but they have other very specific requirements that look at what you have done in the theater area. Hopefully you are strong on those areas.
